On July 31st, the Port of Lisbon had the honor of welcoming the ILMA. In this way, it strengthens its position as an important destination for luxury cruise ships. This new member of the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection made a strategic stop in Lisbon before embarking on its first official voyage.
To celebrate this first passage through the city, the Port of Lisbon organized a special ceremony. During the ceremony, the captain of the ILMA was presented with a commemorative plaque in recognition of the occasion.
ILMA’s construction details and capacity
The ILMA was built at the renowned Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint Nazaire, France. At 241 meters long and weighing 46,750 tons, the ship has 224 cabins, all equipped with a balcony. One of the highlights of this ship is its high crew-to-passenger ratio, i.e. 374 crew members to handle up to 448 passengers, guaranteeing excellent service.
In addition to the comfort of the cabins, ILMA offers a wide range of luxury facilities. Guests can enjoy five restaurants, seven bars, a wine cellar and various exclusive spaces. It also includes a mezzanine marina and The Ritz-Carlton Spa, which has 11 treatment rooms.
The ship also has three separate fitness areas, a dynamic swimming pool and an entertainment area on deck, providing a complete and sophisticated experience for its passengers.
The name ILMA, which means “water” in Maltese, reflects the ship’s design and construction, which follow the highest standards of luxury, technical innovation and craftsmanship.
Sustainability and Innovation
The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection is reaffirming its commitment to sustainability by implementing advanced ecological practices. Equipped with four dual-fuel engines that use liquefied natural gas (LNG) as their main source of energy, the ship has a modular design that allows for adaptations to new types of fuel in the future.
In addition, ILMA is equipped with modern energy efficiency technologies and advanced water treatment systems, thus minimizing its environmental impact.
ILMA’s stopover in Lisbon not only highlighted the city’s importance on the luxury cruise itinerary, but also evidenced Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection’s commitment to sustainability and innovation.
As ILMA prepares for its maiden voyage, it is clear that this ship represents the pinnacle of luxury and technology in the cruise industry, promising an incomparable experience for its future passengers.
